Carter Church is currently a Member of Technical Staff in AI Engineering at SentinelOne, reporting to the Chief AI Officer and focused on agentic systems for security operations.

His background is rooted in the SOC. Before working on AI products, Carter spent over a decade in security operations, incident response, and automation, directly on the operational floor: monitoring, investigating, hunting, building custom tools, mentoring analysts, and scaling security operations.

That path shaped how he thinks about AI. The hard part of security work is rarely a single alert in isolation. The hard part is context: what actually occurred, what matters, what changed, who needs to act, what policy says, and how to effectively action without creating more problems.

Carter's work focuses on designing and building agentic systems that can operate inside these constraints. He's interested in AI that respects process, auditability, escalation, and human judgment, culminating in systems that turn analysts into effective supervisors of meaningfully synthesized work.

Carter is product owner for SentinelOne's flagship agentic SOC product, drives customer-zero validation across the agentic portfolio, and authors evaluations that ensure automated investigations generalize. He also conducts pre-release research across frontier models, designing benchmarks that measure how effectively models burn down real-world analyst effort.

At SentinelOne, Carter previously led Security Hyperautomation across the internal security organization, where he built NEON, an agentic framework for automating investigations and augmenting analysts across security and business functions. He was also a founding SOC analyst, helping scale security operations into a global follow-the-sun function.
